Netlabel Tracker #10: Archaic Horizon

Discovering great new music is gratifying, but some days the thought of scouring the web for freshly pressed tunes can impede even the most determined of us. Recommendations are king, right? So I was delighted to received a commendation for Archaic Horizon from a friend and music producer Bluefood several weeks ago.  I knew that […]

Nerd Night Phnom Penh: The war on music

‘The war on music’. I talked about music piracy, the propaganda the music industry spew out and I promoted and prompted people to explore Netlabels and Creative Commons.

At once energetic, ambient, and brimming with both field recordings and original sounds, the appeal of Danseizure’s LP “This is Danseizure” lies in his ability to grasp the ephemeral, detailed mystery of countless moments, all in the span of ten tracks.

Ambienteer – Ataraxia

How I missed this is beyond me. I follow James Fahy’s music dairy closely, my only explanation for leaving his album slip through the net is having Christmas shenanigans with friends who came to visit me in Cambodia. Anyhow, I’ll get on with it… Ambienteer gifts us with an 8 track album of wondrous ambient […]

wAgAwAgA – Hyper Typewriter – Acroplane Recordings

If Phuture and Adamski sold their possessed 303s and Junos to bass crazed space invaders from another dimension, this is what the alien transmission might sound like. The 303 programming is complex and keeps you constantly […]

Netlabel Tracker #9: Ambienteer

Music is a great communications channel, James Fahy, better known by his super hero name ‘Ambienteer’ regularly expresses himself using ambient music. Okay, I’m cheating, he doesn’t run a netlabel, but he does share his art with the world.

Random Access Recordings - Invisible Agent Netlabel Tracker

Netlabel Tracker #8: Random Access Recordings

The netlabel tracker continues its endless quest in search of quality netlabels that are active and innovative. I’m concentrating hard to spread the tracker across as many genres as possible and encompasses music with acoustic guitars as much as synthesized beeps and booms. After homing in on a particular label & genre I squeeze every last bit out of my Internet connection amassing the collections of quality and free music that are on offer. So far I’ve happily filled 10Gb of my hard drive with netaudio, no credit card needed to ride this train!
